How many ponchos do I need?

One per person per downpour. A pack of five covers a family day out, ten covers a school trip with spares, and the hundred pack exists for stadiums, marshals and event crews who hand them out.

Will a poncho keep me dry in wind?

It keeps the rain off and the wind out, but neither PE nor EVA breathes. On a still day of showers that is exactly right. On an exposed ridge in a gale a hiking shell is the better tool, and we would rather say so.

Do the ponchos have hoods?

Yes. The disposable ponchos come with an attached hood and a drawstring to pull it in, plus an elastic cuff at each wrist. The reusable coats have a drawstring hood as well.

Are the ratings the maker's own?

No. They are the ratings buyers left on the item, read on the same date the prices were refreshed. We print them as they stand and never add them up across colours.

What is the difference between PE and EVA?

PE is the thin, clear material in the disposable sachets: it sheds water, weighs almost nothing and is meant for one outing. EVA is thicker and softer, it folds back down after it dries, and it is what the reusable coats are made from.

What size are the coats?

The reusable coats measure 60 by 27.5 inches, which the maker describes as one size for adults and teens, wide enough to go over a backpack. There is no size ladder to choose from.

Why sell slingshot bands separately?

Because latex perishes long before a metal frame does. A slingshot with a dead band needs two dollars of rubber, not a new slingshot, so the bands sit in their own department.

Do prices here update?

We refresh them on a schedule and show the date of the last update on one page rather than repeating it everywhere. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout with our retail partner.
